Q&A with James

How did you find the teaching?

The teaching on the apprenticeship course was at a very high standard. It was always relevant to the different modules and the teachers delivering were consistently knowledgeable. The teaching on the course would always come with helpful power points and visual aspects to try and cover all ways that people learn.

Why did you choose the course?

I chose this course because of my interest and enthusiasm in sport. The work in schools allows you to learn a lot. Teaching lessons and providing help to children is a very daunting task but with the help of the teachers and staff at the school my confidence grew, I now teach lesson every day throughout the week on my own.

I chose this course just for the sport however you don’t realise how many relationships you can build with children and see that the work you’re doing with them is benefiting and is going to help them in the future.

What has it led to for you?

This course has led me to be a full time PE teaching. This involves teaching lessons and after school clubs, getting the children involved in out of site competitions also helping children in classes by providing interventions to help them develop. This has also led to me applying for University so I can become a fully qualified PE Teacher.

Future career plans?

My future career plans are to become fully qualified as a PE Teacher. I would hope to move onto secondary teaching further along in my career. Before this apprenticeship I would never have thought that I would be going to university to study to be a PE teacher.
