Description

Are you interested in getting a head start in a career in project management?  The role is for a one-two year fixed term business administration apprenticeship.  This post is aimed at people of all ages who have the enthusiasm and energy, are motivated to learn quickly and move their career forward in the public sector.

Vacancy Description

Representative accountabilities:

  • operate equipment specific to the job in order to carry out required tasks use IT to be support service delivery
  • receive information from customers and pass queries to an appropriate person for resolution
  • communicate politely with customers in order to give information or instructions
  • communicate clearly and appropriately with colleagues and customers
  • inputs, updates, extracts and analyses data relevant to service activities using relevant ICT systems
  • prepares, edits, formats and prints documents using Google mail

Budgetary accountabilities:

  • N/A

Specific accountabilities:

  • provide business support to project managers and team members including (but not limited to) booking meetings,  minute taking, document management and raising purchase orders
  • carry out any ad hoc research, correctly process data and/or prepare reports using various ICT packages by ensuring a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • effectively communicate with a range of people including customers, colleagues and other staff in partner organisations
  • maintain digital record-keeping and filing systems
  • assist with the administration of the council's performance management software
  • help and support the team by carrying out general administrative/clerical tasks as necessary

Person specification (knowledge, skills, experience and behaviours required in the role)

  • demonstrate a commitment to studying towards and achieving a full apprenticeship Diploma in Business Administration
  • commitment to learn day-to-day tasks, to be able to prioritise and to work under pressure both individually and as part of a team
  • develop excellent communication skills and gain experience of communicating in person in a calm, courteous, confident and professional manner
  • learn to communicate complex matters clearly and concisely whilst using the most appropriate style and method of communication with people at different levels both inside and outside the organisation
  • ability to work independently and adopt remote and virtual working practices with confidence
  • commitment to developing constructive working relationships with colleagues across departments, in other councils and with partners
  • good attention to detail and accuracy
  • commitment to developing excellent IT skills and customer service skills
  • ensure tasks are completed within agreed timescales
  • demonstrate punctuality and a strong work ethic
  • attend and participate in team meetings and 1:1 supervisions
  • ensure all health and safety standards are adhered to for the relevant work areas
  • apply diversity and equal opportunities policies in the workplace

You must also have the commitment to complete the training and qualifications associated with the apprenticeship.
